Make that Yellow Ribbon Brown ...

... and shove it up your ass. You're not supporting the troops with these damn things and I am far far far from sick of seeing them.

You bought these damn magnets at Walmart or a gas station and while it makes YOU feel good, it makes NO ONE else feel good at all. It doesnt make me feel good, the troops feel good, the Chinese guy who earned 30 cents that day to make it or you after awhile because I'm sure you've forgotten about it 5 minutes after you put it on. So just stop.

If you really want to support the troops kindly do one of the following after you've pulled your head out of your ass:
  1. Research who you are voting for in every election and their policies on troop usage and care and vote for the guy who really does take care of them and not just says he does.
  2. Volunteer some of your time at a local Veterans Hospital or care center. Trust me they need all the help they can get.
  3. Put together a care package and mail it to a random soldier.
  4. Recycle - yep you heard me. Cell phones are a big one, but recycling lots of other stuff really helps cut down on production time for things that soldiers actually need.
  5. Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity or other low-income housing solutions. About 75% of all homeless people in America are veterans. Yeah your magnet ain't doing shit for them.
  6. Volunteer at a local soup kitchen or food pantry and donate food. Buy a little extra at the store or go out hunting and donate the kills to a local meat service that donates the meet to needy families. You'd be surprised how many soldiers, active and veterans, that are hungry and need this type of help.
  7. Volunteer for the Armed Forces yourself. No better way to support a troop then to directly help one out who's next to you getting shot at or your presence could displace one of them entirely. I mean 6 or 7 tours in Iraq has probably got them a bit frazzled. And you're in luck the Army has dropped recruiting standards thru the floor.

  1. Where is your 75% are veterans stat coming from? That seems way high... ? Just curious.

There really are a lot of great things you can do for the troops, like sending them cards and stuff.
Care packages are great, but putting some self-inspired words of encouragement down on a card could really go a long way.

  2. I have to agree with you, Cory. These car magnets are getting ridiculous. The first ones made were the "support the troops" ribbons, which at the time, were original and the "thing" to have.

But, once they created every other ribbon for everything else to support, they became pushed to the back of the popular ribbon chain and now useless to have.

I also couldn't agree more with getting your ass off the couch and do something you believe strongly in. That's what killed me most about the election with all these "bash-Obama" people, but who could always put encouraging words for McCain. YET. They did nothing to help the McCain campaign in any way. Except the voting, which we all know, didn't work out.

I was a huge Obama supporter, who also worked as a volunteer for his Campaign. I wanted him to be President, therefore I worked for it. I know many people who wanted McCain to be President, yet, only sat in their houses bashing Obama. That doesn't help your person get elected.

If you feel strongly about something and you believe it should be noticed; do something about it.

  3. Actually it was a bit high, it's more like 25 to 35% according to the National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients (U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Urban Institute, 1999).

  4. Well it doesn't detract from the point - I would agree that the bumper sticker stuff is kinda cliche and doesn't really mean anything any more other than 'my opinion's wang is bigger than your opinion's wang'.

  5. you know us as soldiers do protect your fucking ass so you can talk shit but do you know what, if can talk all that mad shit on the military like that, then why don't YOU YOURSELF enlist and make a difference and not hide behind your words because my husband and I are tired of shitbags like you disgracing our military and our battle buddies just because you feel like it. You know what? If i had you right in front of my I would have shot you with my M16, my fucking M203, AND MY FUCKING GOD DAMN M9MM and killed your ass 10 fucking times, so YOU SHOVE THAT UP YOUR ASS, SHITFUCK
