2006 Election

I cant express the joy and excitement I feel about how this year's election turned out. As I am writing this it is just being announced that the Democrats have secured the majority position in the Senate with Webb's win in Virginia.

So it's official, the Democrats now control the whole of Congress and as such have effectively neutered President Bush. He is now a lame duck and the rats are jumping ship (as seen by Rumsfeld today).

I'm proud of all the hard work we all put in at the local Democratic phone bank (even if our main favorite, Rick Siferd didnt get the win). It's an awesome feeling to know that in some small way you can help make a change.

A small pebble can send ripples across the whole pond.

  1. Yeah, wow! Pretty amazing how much has changed. I think it's unfortunate if the reason for all this change was just people mad at bush and republicans and voting Democrat, and not on the issues.

But people want a change, and boy are they going to get one! I just we are happy with the change we get. I agree that we needed a change of strategy, but for the House and Senate to shift like that when there was a Republican majority for 12 years and now the Secretary of Defense is suddenly no longer such a 'sure bet' by the president, even though he's been pounding that into everyone's heads for so long is pretty scary if you ask me.

I am a Conservative Republican, and frankly am a bit nervous to be honest. I am, however, interested to see how a Democratic Majority will affect our policy. I only hope I'm not saying 'I told you so' in a few years. Ugh...

At least I didn't call you sissies this time... I'm trying not to be a sore loser, ok?

  2. A conservative republican is reading this blog?! WTH?

Cory, looks like its time to ramp it up a notch or two.
